“Our team, they built us a rocket”, Daniel Suarez
Daniel Suarez came 50 laps short of completing the Mexican motorsport domination at Charlotte Motor Speedway on the biggest weekend in our industry.
At the Front
The Monterrey native ran inside the top 10 for most of the race and even traded the lead with teammate Ross Chastain. He himself was looking for his third race of the season as Team TrackHouse brought two rockets to the very capital of NASCAR.
Suarez was all set for the fourth and final stage as not much seemed to change with regard to his pace. He lost an average of three spots per pitstops but had little to no trouble making them back up.
That, however, changed with only 53 laps to go.
Not Clear
The 99 Chevy entered turn four behind Chase Briscoe. As he moved to his left to make the pass, he got in front of the 14 a little too early and came loose. He then took out Chris Buescher before hitting the wall hard and coming to a stop at the infield grass.

Buescher went for a completely different ride as his right footnote tire suspension broke, dug into the grass, and flipped his car, repeatedly rolling before landing on his roof.
The medical team at the track was quick to arrive to check on both Suarez and the number 17, who despite hanging upside down was conscious and uninjured.
A Wild End
Around 30 laps later, Larson, who at some point called his day “the worst race of his life” was leading and fighting off Briscoe and Chastain for the win. Austin Dillon brought the 18th and final caution of the day with a “Big One” during overtime wrecking virtually every contender in sight.
Drivers did it all over again, take two of overtime finally crowned a winner as Denny Hamlin checked the final Crown Jewel race off his list. After almost six hours of racing, we had a winner: Denny Hamlin.
One for Three
Mexican drivers ended the biggest day in racing with one win out of three as Sergio Perez stood at the top of the podium at Monaco. Nonetheless, Patricio O’Ward came in second at the Indianapolis 500 and Daniel Suarez closed out the weekend in the aforementioned fashion.
