Marcus Armstrong scored his third FIA Formula 2 sprint race victory of the season at Zandvoort, with a late safety car period creating a last-lap shootout.
The Hitech GP driver moved ahead of polesitter Clement Novalak at the start and pulled out a 1.5s lead before a spin for Charouz’s Tatiana Calderon neutralised the race in the closing stages.
But Armstrong controlled the restart on the final tour to remain ahead of MP Motorsport’s Novalak, who scored his first F2 podium finish.
Dennis Hauger was third for Prema, having made an opening-lap overtake into the banked turn three on Armstrong’s team-mate Juri Vips.
Carlin’s Liam Lawson also muscled his way past Vips early on at the chicane to finish fourth ahead of the Estonian.
Ayuma Iwasa was sixth, the DAMS driver moving ahead of local hero Richard Verschoor at the start of the final lap.
Carlin’s Logan Sargeant was the final points finisher in eighth, while Friday’s top-two qualifiers Jack Doohan and Felipe Drugovich were unable to make up places from ninth and tenth on the grid.
After a crash in qualifying, Theo Pourchaire’s difficult weekend continued, with an early trip through the gravel leaving the ART driver last of the finishers in 20th. Prema’s Jehan Daruvala repeated his own spin from qualifying and trailed home 16th.
Oli Caldwell was another to make an error, retiring from the race after crashing into the barriers approaching the halfway stage.
