Formula 1: Red Bull reveal Ford partnership alongside 2023 car

RED BULL RACING HAVE ANNOUNCED THAT FORD WILL BECOME THEIR ENGINE SUPPLIERS FROM 2026 AT THEIR CAR LAUNCH FOR THE RB19.

Following the announcement that Ford would return to Formula 1 2026, Red Bull confirmed at their 2023 season launch that they have entered into a ‘strategic partnership’ with the American car manufacturer .

From 2026, Red Bull Powertrains will have direct support from Ford, including engine development and electric motor technology. This current deal will last until at least 2030.

Their last involvement in F1 back in 2004, owning Jaguar Racing. They sold the team at the end of the year, where the team became Red Bull Racing.

Ford and Red Bull also worked together at Sauber back in 1995. Red Bull owned a majority stake in the team, whilst Ford were their works engine suppliers.

Speaking at the launch event, President and CEO of Ford Motor Company Jim Farley said that Ford “looked at a lot of options, and we wanted to go in a direction that was authentic to us.”

He also stated that “it’s a huge moment for the Ford family” and that they’re “really excited about the sustainable direction of the sport”.

Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner added that “having the ability to draw on your [Ford’s] experience, your EV knowledge and depth of resources is tremendously exciting”.

The team also announced at the launch that they are hosting an open design competition. This will see people design liveries to be used at each of the different races in the United States this year. The winner receives a full garage tour during FP1 that weekend.

Red Bull are the second team to have revealed their 2023 car, following Haas on Tuesday. The next car reveal will be from Williams, who will unveil the FW45 on Monday 6th February.
