Simmons blames Pasma for race two collision

TRS Arden driver Ayrton Simmons has blamed Patrik Pasma for the collision that forced the Carlin man to retire from the second British Formula 4 race at Knockhill.

Simmons and Pasma were battling for fifth position in the wet race when Simmons locked up at hit Pasma. He claims Pasma forced him onto the wet line.

“We had a dry line and the rest was just water,” he explained to Overtake Motorsport.

“I don’t know why [Pasma] was so desperate to keep the position. I went for an overtake and he just pushed me to the water. Obviously the tyres aren’t going to grip as much on water than the dry track.

“I locked up all the wheels and hit him.”

Pasma believes Simmons chose to drive onto the wet line to make a move, and tried to take the position as he was already turning.

“I was turning into the last corner, and when I was already making the corner he drove from the wet line to my side and then I went into the gravel.”

Pasma retired from the race – his third retirement of the season and the second of the weekend after an early exit from race one.

Simmons finished fifth.
