BTCC: Sutton takes comfortable win from polesitter Butcher

Ash Sutton took victory in dominant fashion in round 8 of the 2020 BTCC season by over 4 seconds from round 7 winner Rory Butcher.

Having started eighth, Sutton made a great start getting into the top 5 after the first lap.

Sutton was able to pick his way through the field, overtaking Jake Hill, Colin Turkington, Dan Cammish and leader Butcher by the end of lap 8.

He was then able to steadily open a gap eventually finishing 4.716s ahead of Butcher.

Turkington took the final podium position after passing Cammish with just two laps to go.

Cammish finished fourth 3.152s behind the four-time champion.

Tom Ingram finished fifth with Tom Oliphant in sixth after starting 12th.

After inheriting a podium in race 1, Jake Hill fell away eventually finishing seventh followed closely by Tom Chilton.

Adam Morgan and Bobby Thompson rounded out the top 10.

Senna Proctor was the highest finishing Hyundai in 11th with Michael Crees in 12th after controversially colliding with team mate Josh Cook at Knickerbrook.

In his 700th BTCC race, Matt Neal came from the back of the grid to finish 13th

Chris Smiley finished in 14th with Ollie Jackson rounding out the points scorers in 15th.
