McLaren are the latest team to launch their car, the MP4-31, ahead of the first pre-season test tomorrow.

The Woking based outfit released images of the MP4-31 this morning on social media. They are the first team to launch their car today, with new team to the grid Haas due to reveal their first car this afternoon, and Mercedes who after days of teasing finally released images of the W07.

The car features a rather dark, almost sombre looking livery, while the main body of the nose is a lot steeper looking than last year. McLaren have also gone with a “stubby nose” concept, much like the Ferrari package. Once again the team are sticking with a Honda engine underneath, though the belief is that there has been significant improvement on the engine from last year. The team have stuck with their driver line up of 2015, which Ron Dennis has described as “the best driver line-up in the sport.” With double world champion Fernando Alonso, and 2009 world champion Jenson Button.

Button, who is going into his 16th season in the sport, was quick to not make any predictions about the MP4-31.”I’m not about to make any over-optimistic predictions – Formula 1 is far too unpredictable for me to do that – but, from what I’ve seen so far, the aero detailing on the car looks fantastic,”

Ron Dennis, the executive director of McLaren, also played down the chances of the MP4-31, though he was complimentary of the work the team had dome over winter break. “As we embark on the second year of our renewed McLaren-Honda partnership, all of us remain united in our purpose. That purpose is to develop our team towards our shared ambition: to win. We’ll make no predictions as to when those wins will come, but I can say without fear of contradiction that every member of our team has worked with truly relentless dedication over the past few months.”

The MP4-31 will be on track tomorrow at the first Pre-season test, with Jenson Button behind the wheel first.
