Prost reflects on inconsistent testing

It may have been an inconsistent first test session for Renault e.dams’ Nico Prost, but he’s hoping to find a little more consistency in the season this year.

Prost finished the three day test sixth overall, setting his fastest time on the final day at Donington Park. The Frenchman says he was able to set good times at race pace, but struggled with the full 200kW used in qualifying.

“[Testing] was ok,” Prost said. “A bit up and down. Some really good laps in 170kW, not the best in 200.

“I’m sure we are then on pace but we’ve been a bit inconsistent, so let’s wait for next week and see what happens.”

E.dams enjoyed a luxury advantage over the rest of the field last season with the best power train in their car, but Prost doesn’t think the advantage will be as large this year.

“I think the competition is a bit tighter than last year,” he said.

Even so, Prost will be hoping for a better season than last year, where he struggled to find the same success as his team mate until the end of the year.

“I had a lot of luck in London last year, to be honest,” Prost said. “It went really my way. But if I could have a bit more of a normal season and not have two DNFs because of reliability issues and three driver thoughs in a row would be nice.”
