Team HARD to run VWs in 2017

Team HARD will run three Volkswagon CC next season next season, having secured the vehicle for their 2017 campaign. The team has already signed their first of three drivers.

The team ran VWs back in 2013, introducing the cars to the series, but have since moved to the Vauxhall Insigna and, most recently, the Toyota Avensis.

Team Boss Tony Gilham has said they have “unfinished business” with the VWs. They found success with the cars back in 2013 and now, with updated machines, they plan to continue that.

“It was a good car our of the box then, and was still winning races last season with the older kit on board [run by Team BKR],” Gilham said. “Now we plan to update all three VWs to the RML-spec over the winter and believe we’ll have a really strong package.

“We’re coming off the back of a solid year with three older cars, but now we feel we’re ready to step up and become extremely competitive.”

Gilham said the team had looked at a range of options before deciding to return to the VWs.

“To potentially build and develop new cars at the same time as carrying out the RML upgrades would have been a massive task.”

One of the three Team HARD seats have already been filled, and the name of the signed driver is expected to be announced soon.
