Ollie Pidgley will race with Team Pyro in the 2017 Renault UK Clio Cup championship. The Salisbury based driver made his car racing debut with the team in 2013.
Pidgley joined the Clio Cup grid last season, racing with Ciceley Motorsport. He finished the season sixteenth. 2017 sees Pidgley return to the team he started his car racing career with.
“I’m so happy to be back with Team Pyro for next season,” he said. “It’s where I started in cars in 2013, I was only 15 when I first tested with them – Pyro taught me how to drive. I get on with all of the boys really well, Mark Hunt runs an incredible team and I want to win for them.”
Having already begun testing with the team, principal Hunt is confident in the new recruit.
“Ollie’s a great young driver and definitely has the potential to be up there fighting for podiums on a consistent basis,” he said. “We’ve done three days with him on the new Michelin tyres and everything went well. We’ll be starting an intensive pre-season test programme in February.”
More announcements are expected from the team in the build up to the first race weekend in April.
