When the TBLs list was released last year, not much could be read into it, with teams swapping licenses. Maximum Motorsport, BKR, and Team HARD all secured licenses after the deadline last season, but BTCC boss Alan Gow has ruled out anything similar this year.
The list of TOCA BTCC Licenses was released earlier this month and, though there were some rumours that at least one team wanted to sell one of their licenses to a competitor, that list should reflect the cars we see on the grid in April, with the exception of unexpected circumstances that stop a team making it to the grid.
“When the teams made their entry commitments and 50% deposits for the 2017 season, it was on the understanding that TOCA would not approve any subsequent fundamental changes to their entry or operation of the TBL,” Gow told Touring Car Times.
“In other words, teams cannot sell or lease or loan etc. their TBL for 2017 once they made their commitment by November 30th and we issued out list. Hence why there were some last minute arrangements prior to the cut-off.”
Gow also said that, since the deadline has passed, he won’t approve the movement of any TBLs.
