Dan Zelos will make the switch to WDE Motorsport in his second season in the Renault UK Clio Cup.
The 18 year old raced with Ciceley Motorsport in his debut campaign in the championship, when he finished 18th overall. He’s hoping that experience and working with WDE Manager and three-time Clio Cup champion Paul Rivett will help him to achieve a more successful second season.
“I was really beginning to get to grips with the championship in the altter stages of 2016,” Zelos said. “Although we never seemed to have much luck on our side, that toughened me up mentally and I feel much more positive going into my second season.
“At this stage in my career, being able to work alongside somebody of Paul’s calibre will be hugely important to my development as a driver… nobody knows or understands these cars and this championship better than he does.”
Team principal Wayne Eason expects wins to be a possibility for Zelos in 2017, but thinks he’ll definitely be taking podium finishes this season.
Zelos will race alongside race winner Paul Streather at the team, who was announced earlier this year.
