Colin Turkington took victory in Round 5 of the 2020 BTCC season, whilst Rory Butcher came from 25th to finish fifth.
Team BMW driver Turkington jumped polesitter Dan Cammish off the line to take the lead which he would not relinquish despite heavy pressure from Cammish and Tom Ingram.
The top three had started to open a gap to fourth placed Ollie Jackson before contact between Bobby Thompson and Michael Crees brought out a lengthy Safety Car.
Once the Safety Car had come in, the top three immediately put a gap between themselves and Jackson, who lost out to Tom Chilton just a lap later.
However, the race became very attritional with Chilton, Cammish and Matt Neal all retiring from mechanical issues.
Despite Ingram’s pressure, Turkington was able to finish 3.222s ahead of the Toyota driver.
Throughout the race Butcher had steadily picked his way through the field, eventually finishing fourth behind Ash Sutton who took advantage of the retirements to finish on the podium.
Butcher’s Motorbase team mate Jackson finished fifth just ahead of a resurgent Adam Morgan by just 0.326s.
Tom Oliphant and Senna Proctor came home in seventh and eighth cementing a solid weekend for them both.
Stephen Jelley and James Gornall finished in the points for the second race in a row in ninth and tenth respectively.
Jack Goff scored his first points of the season in 11th with Aiden Moffat and Chris Smiley less than half-a-second behind.
Andy Neate scored his first points of the campaign in 14th and Carl Boardley rounds out the points scorers.
