Douglas Motorsport has announced former World Junior Karting Champion Dexter Patterson will join the team’s 2021 BRDC British F3 lineup.
The 17-year-old started Karting Scotland and has shown promise and skill in multiple Karting championships. He has seen success in multiple Scottish titles. As well as the Formula Kart Stars Super Cadet, Kart Grand Prix Mini Max and the Super One IAME Cadet British Championships.
Following a move to global tracks, the Scotsman saw his biggest success to date. He took victory in the 2017 CIK-FIA Junior World Championship. The Scotsman skill has not gone unnoticed. Sauber F1 team caught wind of Patterson and in 2019 he joined their Karting team. The team has also supported his journey into single-seater racing as part of their driver academy.
Moving to single-seater racing Patterson took home a 4th place finish in a one-off appearance in UAE F4 in January. As well as 4th in the Italian F4 championship.
Dexter Patterson joins BRDC British F3 Championship with Douglas Motorsport and previously announced teammate, Reema Juffali for the 2021 season.
Wayne Douglas, Team Principal has said: “We’re very excited to have Dexter [Patterson] racing for Douglas Motorsport this season. He’s an extremely talented young driver with a superb karting pedigree, while he showed last year that he has huge promise in single-seater competition as well.
“We’ve started working with Dexter on a comprehensive driver development programme, including in-house simulator work and on-track testing, to ensure he’s ready to go and hit the ground running from the opening race of the season.”

The British F3 calendar has been revised due to the coronavirus pandemic and is due to begin on 22nd May at Brands Hatch.
