FIA Formula 3: Alexandr Smolyar takes the lead in the final session of day one

Alexandr Smolyar takes the lead in the final session on the first day of the pre-season testing in Austria.

The Russian racing driver managed to end the second session of the pre-season testing in Spielberg with the fastest time for ART with an incredible 1:18.894.

Carlin’s Johnny Edgar closed the afternoon session as the second-fastest driver from the session with only 0.020 of a second away from Frederik Vesti.

Jack Crawford finished the final session on the first day of the pre-season test in fourth alongside the Prema racing driver, Dennis Hauger, who closed the session in 5th.

Roman Stanek was 6th for Hitech, with the Charouz Racing test driver Logan Sargeant in 7th, leaving Trident’s Jack Doohan to finish behind him in 8th.

Italian driver Matteo Nannini ended the session in 9th fastest for HWA, followed by the new driver Caio Collet in 10th for the first MP Motorsport car and the second-fastest Trident driver Clement Novalak in 11th.

Michael Belov was 12th for Charouz Racing, with Calan Williams in 13th as the leading Jenzer Motorsport driver and ART’s Juan Manuel Correa in 14th.

David Schumacher got placed in 15th for Trident, just ahead of the two Prema drivers, Olli Caldwell and Arthur Leclerc, who took the 16th and 17th place.

Oliver Rasmussen ended the day 18th for HWA with Kayleen Frederick in 19th for Carlin and the HWA rookie Rafael Villagomez in 20th.

Pierre Louis Chovet was 21st fastest for Jenzer Motorsport, with both MP Motorsport driver Amaury Cordeel and his teammate Lorenzo Colombo on 22nd and 23rd, respectively.

Rookie Reshad De Gerus finished the session 24th for Charouz Racing as he ended the day for the team and the last Hitech driver Ayumu Iwasa in 25th.

Filip Ugran closed the session in 26th fastest for the last Jenzer Motorsport car, followed by Carlin’s rookie Ido Cohen in 27th.

MP Motorsport took the 28th, and 29th spot for the two rookie drivers Victor Martins and Tjimen Van Der Helm, as Laszlo Toth secured the last place from the session in 30th.

On Sunday, the fourth of April, the FIA Formula 3 pre-season test sessions in Austria will be the last day of the testing event. There will be two more weekends of testing in Spain and on the first round of the FIA Formula 3 season in May.
