Olli Caldwell takes the lead in a chaotic second race of the season after the race saw two yellow flags emerged from the crash that happened between the race leaders.

The British driver Olli Caldwell got benefitted from two front-row crashes in order to seal his maiden win in the FIA Formula 3 championship with Prema Racing.

Enzo Fittipaldi and the rest of the grid had a good start as the race started smoothly and the Brazilian drivers got his grip to lead the race, with David Schumacher and Matteo Nannini rounding up the top three.

Right when the first lap of the race happened, Alexander Smolyar and Logan Sargeant were the first two drivers involved in the accident from the second race of round one in Barcelona, bringing out the yellow flag into the race.

The safety car was out for five laps before the second incident happened between the pole-sitter Enzo Fittipaldi and David Schumacher when they’re battling up to first.

David Schumacher was unfortunate as Enzo Fittipaldi touched his front wheel, causing a collision between them as David Schumacher got dragged out of the race with his damaged car.

At the same time, Enzo Fittipaldi has to stop his car on the track, bringing an end to the second race of the season for Charouz racing.

The third incident from the race happened to the next race leader Dennis Hauger and Matteo Nannini, with the exact cause that caused David Schumacher and Enzo Fittipaldi to be out from the actions on the previous lap. Another safety car appeared on the race just a few laps before it reached 22.

Olli Caldwell was quick to respond as he defended his place as the race leader, opening the opportunities for Prema Racing to mark their first podium of the season. On the final lap, Victor Martins tried to overtake Caldwell from the inside, but he’s running out of time to do the last-minute switch.

The rookie was running in the second position, fighting for his first-ever Formula 3 podium inside the championship after dropping two positions to both Prema drivers on lap 8.

The British driver saw the chequered flag in front of him with just a few tenths of a second away from the reigning champion of Formula Renault Victor Martins in second, followed by ART’s Frederik Vest in third.

Race 3 from the first round of the season in Barcelona will start tomorrow at 12.05 local time with the starting grid from Friday’s qualifying session as Dennis Hauger will be taking his place on the pole position.
