Prema’s newest addition Dennis Hauger sealed his maiden victory in the last race of Barcelona as he started the race on the pole after almost winning the race yesterday.
The Norwegian driver leads the third race of the season with a pole position due to Friday’s qualifying session with an insanely close gap to Jack Doohan, who started the race in second.
Hauger holds first place for a consistent 22 laps even with the three drivers that tried to steal his place over at the beginning of the race just a few seconds after the lights went out.
Jack Doohan dropped two positions back from where he started in second, advantaging Matteo Nannini to run in his place ahead of Victor Martins in third, splitting them by just 0.20 seconds away from the reigning champion of Formula Renault.
The day isn’t over yet for the son of the famous two times MotoGP champion Jack Doohan as he started to pressure Victor Martins over in order to put himself back into the podium positions.
At the same time, Martins tried to claim his second podium from the championship with the defensive skills that the rookie holds for a couple of laps before Jack Doohan managed to get past him on lap 9.
After he passed Victor Martins, the Australian driver continued to hunt Matteo Nannini as he claimed his position back from the HWA Racelab driver.
With seven laps to go before the race ended, the switch happened again between Victor Martins as he dropped one position behind the championship leader Olli Caldwell, snatching the fourth place from Martins.
On lap 15, HWA’s Rafael Villagomez has haded a 5 second time penalty after the investigations from the following accident for forcing Kaylen Frederick off the track.
The last-minute battle emerged between Charouz’s Logan Sargeant and Trident’s Clement Novalak for 6th, with Frederik Vesti seeing an opportunity for him to dive inside the sixth place.
Sargeant appeared to be struggling as he gave it away to MP Motorsport’s rookie Caio Collet to finish in eight, handing the sixth position over to Trident’s Clement Novalak and ART’s Frederik Vesti in seventh.
Dennis Hauger still holds the first position with a comfortable three-second gap away from the other contenders until he reached the end of the race.
As a result, Dennis Hauger was declared as the winner of the race for Prema, with Jack Doohan in second for Trident ahead of HWA Racelab’s Matteo Nannini in third.
There are more things to discover from this exciting season as the FIA Formula 3 will be back in racing for the second round of the 2021 season in Le Castellet, supporting the Formula One French Grand Prix on 25-27 June.
