Mikkel Grundtvig is to join Fortec Motorsports for the 2021 BRDC British F3 Championship. He makes a return to single-seater racing after a year in the Danish Endurance Championship.

The Danish driver started karting in 2015, later moving to single-seater racing a few years later. He had a successful first few seasons in single-seaters, taking two victories and six podiums in Renault Danish F4. He then returned to the championship the following year and took a further three wins and eight podiums. Despite not entering all races of the season.

Alongside the Denmark-based F4 series in 2018, he undertook a French F4 campaign where he took a single win.

In 2020, he moved to the Danish Endurance Championship. He claimed three victories behind the wheel of a Lamborghini Huracán.

Grundtvig is the second driver to be announced for Fortec Motorsports’ 2021 BRDC British F3 campaign.

Mikkel Grundtvig has said: “I’m really happy to be joining Fortec to race in the British F3 Championship this year, the team have a very long and successful history of developing drivers and winning championships.

“I’ve already tested at some circuits in the UK last year and have been working on the simulator back home in Denmark. We have worked hard over the winter preparing for this season and I will give 100% so we can continue this success together.”

Oliver Dutton, Team Manager has said: “We’re really pleased to welcome Mikkel to our BRDC British Formula 3 Championship team and look forward to working with him in the season ahead.

“We would have preferred to start our testing programme a little sooner, but COVID-19 restrictions have made it difficult to get Mikkel over from Denmark. So we’re going into the first race weekend with only two proper test days, but his work so far has been very encouraging and he’s integrated well into the team.

“I’m sure between Mikkel, Roberto and our other driver to be announced, we’ll be in for a good season ahead.”

The British F3 calendar has been revised due to the coronavirus pandemic and is due to begin this weekend at Brands Hatch.
