Tom Ingram took the first win for Hyundai and Excelr8 in the reverse grid race at Snetterton this afternoon.
It is Ingram’s first win of 2021 and puts him into second place in the championship standings.
Polesitter Stephen Jelley led team mate Tom Oliphant off the line, but third placed Rory Butcher had a bad start with Ingram taking advantage and going into third.
A lap later Jelley had a huge lock up into the hairpin at turn two giving Oliphant an opportunity to challenge into Agostini, but the Team BMW team mates made contact with Ingram taking second and Oliphant being spun out by Ollie Jackson.
Jelley’s lock up appeared to affect his pace with Ingram, Ash Sutton, Butcher, Colin Turkington and Gordon Shedden all within 2 seconds of each other.
Ingram was finally able to pass Jelley for the lead into turn two on lap five, however the Team BMW driver was able to defend from Sutton and Shedden to keep second place.
Jelley defended valiantly but lost out to both Sutton and Shedden on lap eight with Josh Cook also passing the BMW driver on the same lap.
Although Sutton and Shedden had been released, they were over two seconds behind the Hyundai.
Both Sutton and Shedden started to close in on Ingram, but Shedden started to attack the Infiniti driver with two laps to go giving Ingram a bit more breathing room.
Ingram was able to stay comfortably ahead and take victory at the final race of the day.
Sutton held off Shedden to finish second with the Scot in third.
Josh Cook finished fourth ahead of Jelley and Butcher.
Turkington and Adam Morgan finished in seventh and eighth respectively ahead of Jack Goff and Dan Rowbottom who round out the top ten.
