ART’s Frederik Vesti secured his second pole position in the qualifying session after beating Dennis Hauger in a sensational battle.
Championship leader Dennis Hauger was pushing for the limits as he almost scores his second pole position right before Frederik Vesti performed a faster time on the qualifying session, less than two minutes before the session ended with a 1:50.882.
Still, the thrilling battle between the two drivers wasn’t enough for the Norwegian driver to seal pole position as Frederik Vesti managed to broke the 1m51s barrier.
MP Motorsport’s Victor Martins was third fastest from the 30 minutes session, ahead of Jack Doohan in fourth for Carlin and his teammate Caio Collet in fifth after he dropped a few positions during qualification.
Clement Novalak finished in sixth fastest for Trident, with ART’s Alexander Smolyar in seventh and the rookie Ayumu Iwasa closing the day for Hitech in eight in the final minute.
Juan Manuel Correa proved his best qualifying result this season as he entered the top 10 with a 1:51.503, followed by last year’s FIA Formula 3 third runner-up Logan Sargeant in tenth fastest for Charouz.
Race 1 from the French Grand Prix will start at 10:10 AM local time in France. This qualifying session will appear on Race 3 as Jenzer Motorsport’s Calan Williams will start from the pole position ahead of Trident’s David Schumacher on Race 1 following the reverse grid format.
