A maiden win, the return of a champion and a real Quartararo blunder.
We have a double Ducati on the front row, Bagnaia and Miller taking the spot where legend Jorge Lorenzo and Andrea Dovisioso used to be. And just behind them- the world championship leader Fabio Quartararo.
Will it be one of those three? Or will Marquez say otherwise? We’ll find out NOW.
The two Ducati’s and Marquez get away well at the front, but it is Bagnaia and Marquez that lead the race. The Repsol Honda rider is looking for ways to lunge up the front.
At turn 5, Alex Marquez crashes out of the GP.
In 4th place is Aprilia rider Aleix Espargaro with World Champion Joan Mir behind him. But the world championship leader is 7th, the Aragon track somewhere he suffers greatly.
As for the new Aprilia rider Maverick Vinales is in 19th place. It takes time for any rider to adjust to a new bike, so there isn’t much expectation from him.
Moto2 rider Jake Dixon crashed out of the GP, his run in MotoGP a struggle since the beginning.
Much like Moto2, there are three groups in the race. The first is the top three of Bagnaia, Marquez and Miller. The second is: A. Espargaro, Mir and Jorge Martin. The last one is lead by Quartararo, who is consistently losing touch with the top six.
Surprisingly, the top KTM is Iker Lecuona, who is expected to announce a move to WSBK within the next couple of days.
Behind him, Factory KTM rider Brad Binder is hoping to make up some places.
Miller is dropping off from the first group and has become the honorary leader of the second, ahead of Aleix Espargaro.
Throughout the grid, not much is changing. The only rider who is consistently falling in points is Quartararo. He is about to be overtaken by Enea Bastiannini.
All the riders, with the single exception of Johann Zarco, are running the Medium front/Soft rear combo. The Pramac Ducati man is running the Hard front with a soft rear, which could be why he is in 15th.
Jack Miller runs extremely wide and falls down to fifth while Mir takes 3rd. It could be the grip finally beginning to give way, or something has happened.
The main battle, with nine laps to go, is actually between Enea Bastiannini and Takakii Nakagami. They were originally battling with Quartararo for 9th, but soon got distracted with one another.
With eight laps to go, the tires will begin to drop dramatically.
Iker Lecuona is one of the first riders who suffers from this phenomenon, running it wide.
Quartararo has seemed to settle into 8th, so not much is changing at the moment. The bigger change will be seen in the front row when Marquez decides to make a move.
With three laps to go, Marquez is playing the ultimate mind games by poking at the side of Bagnaia’s vision. The Ducati rider is trying to keep his cool, but the Honda seems to have more tire grip.
Bagnaia has a lot of trust in his bike- but Marquez is a World Champion. And absolutely insane when it comes to these final last lap battles.
On the final lap, everything is on the line for Bagnaia and nothing is on the line for Marquez. He has no championship to worry about, so you know he’s going to throw it all out there.
Marquez makes move after move to no avail- the Ducati rider knows his way around his bike. He runs it wide!
And Bagnaia takes his maiden win in MotoGP!
The podium is Bagnaia, Marquez and Mir.
What will happen next week? Tune in to find out!
