PREMA Racing’s Arthur Leclerc completed the first session of Jerez in-season testing fastest with a 1:40.202, a good time enough to beat second-placed Trident’s rookie Roman Stanek.
After securing his first podium of the season in Bahrain, Leclerc makes sure that he’s no longer playing around by setting the fastest time overall on a rain-hampered morning session, with a half a second margin over Stanekk and Van Amersfoort Racing’s Franco Colapinto in third.
With most drivers only completing an installation lap, both ART Grand Prix drivers made it to the top five as Gregoire Saucy finished fourth fastest, only three-tenths of a second faster than his teammate Victor Martins in fifth.
Meanwhile, Leclerc’s teammate, Jak Crawford, ended the first-morning session in sixth fastest for the second PREMA Racing car, ahead of Josep Maria Marti in seventh for Campos Racing and Jenzer Motorsport’s William Alatalo.
Sprint Race winner Isack Hadjar, who has also topped Bahrain’s pre-season testing twice, was ninth fastest for Hitech as Trident’s Zane Maloney rounded out the top 10.
The FIA Formula 3 two-day collective test will continue the afternoon session of Day 1 at 2 PM local time in Spain.
