Rory Butcher took pole at the Brands Hatch GP Circuit for Round 4 of the 2020 BTCC season.
It is the first pole for Motorbase’s new spec Ford Focus ST after making it’s debut at Donington last week.
Despite being at the top of the timesheets for most of the session, his time of 1:31.111 put him just 0.031s ahead of the Honda Civic of Dan Cammish.
Ollie Jackson and Jake Hill also set times within a tenth of Butcher just 0.038s and 0.055s behind respectively.
The Team BMW duo of Colin Turkington and Tom Oliphant set the same time down to the thousandth of a second and will start Round 4 in fifth and sixth.
The Excelr8 Hyundai of Senna Proctor qualified seventh less than half a tenth in front of the Toyota of Tom Ingram.
BTC Racing team mates of Josh Cook and Tom Chilton round out the top 10 in ninth and tenth respectively.
3-Time Champion Matt Neal finished 11th just ahead of Stephen Jelley and Adam Morgan.
Donington race winner Ash Sutton qualified 14th with Chris Smiley in 15th in the second of the Excelr8 Hyundai’s.
