Tom Ingram took his first pole position of the year after a stop/start session which saw three red flags in a cold, wet session at Brands Hatch.

Conditions for the 30-minute session were treacherous with Michael Crees falling foul of the conditions almost immediately at Surtees with Senna Proctor crashing at Druids causing the first red flag of the day.

Ash Sutton had immediately went to the top of the table with a 55.077s prior to the red flag.

Once the session restarted, Championship contender Dan Cammish went to the top with a 55.033s before being usurped by Sutton who set a 54.984s.

The rain appeared in to increase soon after but that didn’t stop Matt Neal from setting the fourth fastest time of 55.279s.

But a lap later Neal spun at Mclaren and hit the barrier on the entrance to Clearways. Fortunately he stopped on an access road rather than the gravel so was able to get going again instantly.

Jake Hill brought out the second red flag of the session after hitting the barrier and getting stuck in the gravel at the exit of Clearways.

Another Championship contender, Rory Butcher, went straight to the top once the session restarted with a 55.974s but was beaten almost immediately by Ingram with a 55.950s.

Ingram’s time looked beatable but Carl Boardley spun into the gravel at Paddock Hill Bend bringing out the third red flag of the session giving Ingram his first pole of the year.

After being pipped by Ingram into pole Butcher held onto second place just 0.010s ahead of Sutton.

Cammish hung onto fourth despite a messy session with Ollie Jackson in fifth.

Despite causing a red flag, Hill finished the session in sixth ahead of Neal in seventh.

Turkington struggled compared the the four other title contenders finishing the session eighth.

Paul Rivett and Josh Cook completed the top ten in ninth and tenth respectively.

Stephen Jelley finished the session in 11th just 0.032s behind Cook and 0.003s ahead of Oliphant.

Aidan Moffat, Jack Goff and Chris Smiley complete the top 15.
