So now the dust has settled on the weekend that was the Americas GP round of the MotoGP calendar, our correspondents from each class have taken a look at who impressed them the most.
Josie Smith- Moto3 correspondent:
Moto3- Andrea Migno. Not only did he make up twelve places in the race, and take it right to the wire with DiGiannantonio, he did all that after a huge crash in FP2.
Moto2- Joan Mir. He barely put a foot wrong, he only lost out with the contact he made with Aegerter in the first corner dropping him to 19th, but then he came back to 4th, showing why he deserved to move up.
MotoGP- Dani Pedrosa. Dani came 7th with a broken wrist. How he did that is a mystery to me, but it was a superhuman effort!
Jacob Ward- Moto2 correspondent:
Moto3- Andrea Migno. He left the Italian based Sky VR46 team in the summer to join the Spanish Aspar team, and after the first two rounds it seemed like a poor decision. But he came back so strong at COTA to make up so many places, and showed he deserves to be there.
Moto2- Joan Mir. After his first lap shenanigans with Aegerter, I did not think he would trouble the top ten places. But to come back to 4th, in only his third race on the Kalex, he deserves every plaudit thrown his way. A superb ride from a man who has a bright future.
MotoGP- Marc Marquez. What can you say about the little magician at COTA that hasn’t already been said? He looked utterly imperious, and could take a second a lap out of Iannone at will. Absolute magic from the man who runs America.
Nat Jarvis- MotoGP correspondent:
Moto3- Marco Bezzecchi. He is proving himself to be a serious title contender, he looked comfortable and took a lot of points so I think he’s a serious title threat.
Moto2- Francesco Bagnaia. He put Alex Marquez exactly where he wanted him, and backed up exactly why Pramac Ducati have signed him for 2019.
MotoGP- Dani Pedrosa. To break your right wrist and have fresh surgery and then produce 7th is amazing, when you consider he was crying in agony on Friday in the free practice sessions. When you consider the right wrist does the throttle as well as braking it was truly incredible.
We now have a short break before we return to Europe and a fan favourite track at Jerez. Find out all of the results from qualifying and the races here on Overtake Motorsport.
