Jamie Orton will once again return to the Ginetta GT4 SuperCup, whilst new comer Tom Hibbert is set to complete his first full season in the series this year.
Orton has been a part of the super cup grid since 2012, with Hibbert joining the series towards the end of last season.
Orton’s return will see him joining the Triple M Motorsports outfit.
“I had looked at other options but the timing just wasn’t right,” Orton said. “I was lucky enough to be offered the opportunity to work with Alan and Nick Mugglestone again this year… it was too tempting to pass up as I enjoyed working with them so much last year and I felt that if I was to have another crack at it, then there would be no better opportunity to fight for the championship.”
Describing his third place finish in last year’s season as “a little underwhelming”, Olton hopes to improve on that finish, though winning the championship would need “some luck as well”.
“The primary objective is to have another great season of racing, anything else is a bonus.”
28 year old Hibbert is new to the championship, but has experience racing on the TOCA circuits whilst driving in the GT Cup.
As a teenager, Hibbert had much success in karting but, after a seven year break from motorsports, there was a lot to be done before he could join the BTCC support series.
The penultimate round of the 2015 Ginetta GT4 SuperCup saw Hibbert’s debut in the championship, after passing tests and racing in enough GT Cup to gain signatures for the upgraded license.
“I am really looking forward to a full season in the 2016 Ginetta GT4 SuperCup,” Hibbert said.
“Racing in the last two rounds of 2015 really gave me and the team a taste for it. We are excited for the challenge ahead.”
The first race of the series will take place on 2/3 April at Brands Hatch.
