Pointon progressing to SuperCup

Ginetta regular Callum Pointon is graduating into the GT4 SuperCup for the upcoming championship, racing with Total Control Racing in his first full season.

The twenty two year old has spent the past three years as a frequent front runner in the Ginetta GT5 Challenge, finishing third overall last season.

During 2015, Pointon joined the SuperCup grid with TCR for three rounds – Oulton Park, Silverstone, and Brands Hatch – where he was able to get a taste for the car. Pointon ran competitively all the way through his trial, finishing in the top ten on four occasions.

“I’m thrilled to be back with Ginetta and it’s great to be making the step up to the next level,” said Pointon. “Whilst all the series are well run and incredibly competitive, the G55 GT4 is an awesome car and it’s the right move at the right time to further my driving career. I’m hoping we can be competitive from the first round and I’ll be aiming to pick up a trophy or two throughout the year.”

“Callum has been a part of the Ginetta family since 2013 and it’s great to see him progressing from the GT5 Challenge into the GT4 SuperCup,” said Ginetta Championships manager Ashley Gallagher. “He’s continuing with Lee Brookes’ TCR outfit and we are looking forward to seeing them make a full time return to the SuperCup having previously won the drivers’ championship.”
