Teenager Tom Wood is hoping to be a championship contender in his second season in the Ginetta Junior championship. The 15-year-old has switched to HHC Motorsport for the 2017 championship.
After winning the Formula Kart Stars Junior category in 2015, Wood joined Elite Motorsport for his first year in car racing. The rookie took two overall podiums and 10 in the rookie class on his way to 11th in the overall standings.
Now, joining a team that has won the Ginetta Junior championship four times in the past five years, Wood is aiming a little higher, and team principal Charlie Kemp hopes Wood will be in for a shot at the title.
“He had some strong results last year and we aim to build on this with consistent podiums in 2017,” he said. “As always, every year the Ginetta Junior Championship gets tougher and tougher as quality of teams and drivers gets better. But with the effort Tom and the team will put in we hope to be vying for the title come the last round at Brands.”
Wood joins already announced Charlie Digby, Scott McKenna, and Ruben Del Sarte at HHC.
