JamSport signs third Clio Cup new comer for 2017

Cambridge racer Lucas Orrock will return to racing in the UK after joining JamSport’s Renault UK Clio Cup line up.

The 26-year-old has spent the past year competing in the European SEAT Leon series after just missing out on the UK VW Cup in 2015.

Orrock returns home race in what he sees as the top single-make front-wheel-drive series in the UK, with the British Touring Car Championship the likely goal if he can turn the podiums and fastest laps he’s seen over the past few years into race wins.

“I had my first test with JamSport last week at Snetterton and immediately the car is just very enjoyable to drive,” he said.

“The way I see it, we’ve done the entry-level stuff and gained some very good experience from Europe but for sensible money and setting yourself up for a shot at the BTCC then this is the one.”

Orrock brings valuable experience to the so far all-new JamSport squad, partnering MINI Challenge runner-up Nathan Harrison and Fiesta Junior Champion Aaron Thompson. Though his teammates will be younger than him, Orrock isn’t underestimating the competition he’ll be getting from them.

“Aaron is clearly a very exciting young talent already and Nathan was actually at junior level karting when I was in seniors and you could see then he stood out as one to watch,” he said. “There’s bound to be some healthy rivalry between all three of us, but I see that as a big positive for the team.”
