Ash Sutton claimed his second BTCC victory of the day by again leading from start-to-finish in race two.
As in race one it was the Infiniti of Sutton and Colin Turkington in the BMW who dominated the top two positions, despite two safety car periods.
Josh Cook brought out the safety car after an off into the gravel on the first lap. His team had repaired his Honda Civic in time for the start following his crash in the first race.
Sutton, who had led away from pole, remained in front at the restart, followed by Turkington.Jake Hill, who lost a place to Tom Ingram at the start, came under pressure for fourth spot from Rory Butcher.
But Butcher outbraked himself while trying to make a move, dropping down the order after a trip through the gravel, while Hill also lost two places to Dan Cammish in the Honda and Tom Oliphant’s BMW.
Two battles developed throughout the race, with Sutton coming under pressure from Turkington for the lead, while Ingram had Cammish and Oliphant in his mirrors for the final podium spot.
A second safety car period briefly halted matters after Andy Neate ended up in the gravel. Sutton held on to win by 0.662s from Turkington following the restart, both finishing comfortably ahead of the rest.
Ingram held on take third, just ahead of Cammish. Matt Neal and Aiden Moffat both passed Oliphant in the closing stages, but a 10s penalty for a jump start dropped the Honda of Neal out of the points.
Moffatt was classified fifth in the Infiniti with Oliphant sixth. Tom Chilton took seventh for BTC Racing, while MB Motorsport’s Hill ended up in eighth.
Chris Smiley was ninth for ExcelR8 Motorsport, with Butcher in tenth after his earlier off.
Smiley’s team-mate Senna Proctor will start the reversed-grid third race from pole after his ball was picked out following an 11th-placed finish.
