Team Dynamics’ Dan Cammish took his first pole of the 2020 season at Thruxton ahead of Toyota’s Tom Ingram.
Cammish, Ingram and Matt Neal were in the hunt for pole throughout the 30-minute session with all three drivers topping the timesheets at various points.
Ingram set a hair-raising lap of 1:15.293s but was eventually usurped by Cammish’s 1:15.201s.
The rear-wheel drive contingent struggled with reigning champion Colin Turkington the only rear-wheel drive runner in the top 10.
Ash Sutton and Tom Oliphant were the only other rear-wheel drive cars in the top 15.
Cammish’s Dynamics team mate Matt Neal had his best qualifying of the year in third, just 0.017s ahead of the Mercedes of Adam Morgan, which is also his best qualifying of 2020.
Jake Hill made it three Honda Civic’s in the top 5 with the Motorbase Ford Focus of Rory Butcher in sixth.
Tom Chilton is the highest placed BTC Racing Honda Civic in seventh just 0.019s ahead of Turkington.
Michael Crees and Josh Cook round out the top 10 completing the Civic domination
Sutton struggled throughout the session, including missing the final chicane twice before finishing in 11th just 0.010s ahead of Team BMW’s Oliphant.
The Hyundai’s of Senna Proctor and Chris Smiley were seperated by just 0.002s in 13th and 14th, with Ollie Jackson in 15th.
