Josh Cook took his first victory of the season at Thruxton ahead of team mate Tom Chilton in dominant fashion as neither of the BTC Racing Honda Civic’s were challenged.
Cook and Chilton started well, keeping the fast starting BMW of Tom Oliphant behind and from there both drivers were unchallenged with Cook finishing over 4 seconds ahead of third-placed finisher Rory Butcher.
Butcher, Ash Sutton and Tom Ingram spent most of the race within a second of each other with Sutton doing a stunning job to keep Ingram behind on the final lap after an aborted move on Butcher into the complex.
Sutton extended his championship lead by finishing fourth as Colin Turkington again struggled to work his way through the field.
Ingram’s fifth place rounded off an excellent weekend for the Toyota driver after winning the first two races.
Tom Oliphant was again the highest placed BMW finisher in sixth ahead of Matt Neal and team mate Turkington.
Michael Crees had held a top 10 position throughout the race, but suffered a puncture on the last lap dropping him out of the points.
Crees’ puncture elevated Jake Hill into ninth and Dan Cammish into tenth.
Rob Austin capped off a solid return to the series by finishing 11th ahead of the Hyundai of Senna Proctor.
Ollie Jackson made it three points finishes out of three in 13th ahead of Jack Goff in 14th.
Bobby Thompson completed the points scorers in 15th despite retiring in race 2.
