Ash Sutton took his second BTCC title after finishing sixth while Motorbase’s Rory Butcher took victory in the final race of the year.
It is Sutton’s second title after his 2017 triumph.
Polesitter Aidan Moffat started well, holding the lead into turn 1 with Rory Butcher taking second from Chris Smiley.
But going into Paddock Hill Bend on lap 2, Smiley and Moffat got caught up giving Butcher the lead from Josh Cook, Adam Morgan and Jake Hill.
In the battle for the Championship, Colin Turkington worked himself into fifth with Dan Cammish ninth and Ash Sutton 10th.
Cammish was able to work his way up the order, overtaking Moffat and Ollie Jackson in two successive corners.
By this time Turkington appeared to lack pace and was holding up a train of cars including Ingram and Cammish.
On Lap 7, Ingram was able to get past Turkington and was soon followed by Cammish.
Turkington’s lack of pace put him into the clutches of Sutton who struggled to get past the BMW.
At the front Hill and Cook collided at Clearways putting Ingram, Morgan and Cammish in 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively.
However Butcher’s lead of 6 seconds did not look under any threat even with Ingram slowly decreasing the gap.
Sutton finally made his move on Turkington on Lap 19 into Paddock Hill Bend after getting an overlap on the BMW out of Clearways.
Turkington’s struggles continued after losing eighth place to Sutton’s team mate Moffat.
But the writing was already on the wall for the Team BMW driver who needed to finish ahead of Sutton to have any chance of taking his fifth BTCC title.
Hill completed the podium ahead of Cammish.
Morgan finished fifth in the final race that Ciceley Motorsport will run the Mercedes A-Class.
Sutton eventually finished sixth in front of Cook and polesitter Moffat.
Turkington and Ollie Jackson completed the top 10.
Tom Chilton came home 11th ahead of Smiley in 12th and Tom Oliphant in 13th.
Matt Neal finished 14th with Jack Sears Trophy Champion Michael Crees completing the points scorers in 15th.
