Javier Sagrera is to make the step up from Spanish F4 to the BRDC British F3 circuits in 2021 with Elite Motorsport in their first season in the British Championship.
In 2020, the Spanish driver debuted in single-season racing in the Spanish F4 championship after success in his karting career. For his 2021 campaign, he will step up to the BRDC British F3 championship for his second season. He is the first driver to be announced of Elite motorsport.
He had success in the Spanish F4 series after driving for only part of the season. The Spanish driver achieved multiple top 10 finishes with MOL racing in his first season in single-seater racing.
The British outfit will compete in the series for the first time and replace Lanan Racing for the 2021 season. In preparation for the season, they brought two cars from Lanan for its single-seater debut campaign.
Speaking on his British F3 Debut, Sagrera has said: “My hopes and aims are to mature and develop more as a driver due to the intense and difficult tracks that I will face in England. Of course I also want to be a strong candidate, fighting for the championship. Elite is an experienced and hard-working team that I believe can give everything I need to put in good performances. I’m very grateful to Picho [Diaz-Toledano] at Seven GP for bringing this new and exciting association together.”
Talking about the announcement Team owner and Manager, Eddie Ives has said: “I’m over the moon to have secured Javier in one of our BF3 cars. We had a very promising three-day test with Javier at Valencia in December. He impressed the whole team with his attitude and pace. It’s a big challenge for him coming over to the UK but I’m confident we will surprise a few people.”
The British F3 calendar has been revised due to the coronavirus pandemic and is due to begin on 22nd May at Brands Hatch.
