Reigning Ginetta Junior Champion, Tom Lebbon is to graduate to BRDC British F3 in 2021 with Elite Motorsports.

Tom Lebbon has been announced as the second driver in Elite Motorsports BRDC British F3 lineup. It will be the teams maiden season in the championship after replacing Lanan Racing for the 2021 season. Lebbon tested with the team in December of last year to prepare for the step up to British F3.

His impressive rookie season in the Ginetta Junior Championship saw him on the podium 15 times. With 5 race wins and 13 rookie championship wins, he ended the season taking the championship title. He will join Javier Sagrera who will also compete in the championship for the first time.

The Brit graduated from Karting to Ginetta at the end of 2019. Lebbon was also awarded the 2020 Ginetta Junior Scholarship in 2019.

Talking about this season ahead, Lebbon said: “My aim is to achieve a strong year in F3 while picking up some good finishes along the way. I want to use this year to learn and experience single-seater racing and develop my driving. I need to adapt to slick tyres and aero which is all new to me. I’ve only completed about five days in a F3 car, at Snetterton and Valencia, and testing has been pretty limited due to poor weather. I’ve a good bond with Elite and believe that they can compete at high level in BF3. They have won lots of races and championships and I believe they are a good choice despite Elite being new to the Formula 3 paddock.”

The British F3 calendar has been revised due to the coronavirus pandemic and is due to begin on 22nd May at Brands Hatch.
