PREMA Racing’s Dennis Hauger completed Friday’s qualifying session on top of the timesheet with a 1:19.726 ahead of Frederik Vesti.
The FIA Formula 3 started the third round of the season in Spielberg, Austria, this week, with Olli Caldwell leading the free practice session as an opener.
Current championship leader Dennis Hauger took his first pole position of the season after beating ART’s Frederik Vesti by just a few hundredths of a second on the final lap of the session.
Hauger prevented the Danish driver from maintaining his record in taking the pole position in a row after completing the last round’s qualifying session in France as the pole sitter.
Caio Collet got his time deleted from the session for exceeding the track limits as he dropped three positions back after setting the fastest time on the track, granting the pole position away to Dennis Hauger.
The Brazilian driver will be starting the race from the fourth position for MP Motorsport behind ART’s Alexander Smolyar on Sunday.
Second Red Bull Junior driver Jak Crawford secured his best position for Hitech in qualifying as he rounded out the top 5 with a 1:19.817.
Both Trident’s drivers, Clement Novalak and Jack Doohan ended the session in sixth and seventh fastest, respectively, with an insanely close gap by 003s.
Prema’s Olli Caldwell was eighth fastest with an insanely close gap by only 003s to Jack Doohan alongside his teammate Arthur Leclerc in ninth, closing the day for PREMA Racing inside the top 10 and Victor Martins in tenth fastest for MP Motorsport.
Logan Sargeant will start from the pole position in Race 1 for Charouz Racing System following the reverse grid format tomorrow at 10.35 AM local time in Austria.
