After a delayed start due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the World Rallycross Championship gets underway this weekend.
The Calendar
The 2021 WRX season will see nine rounds taking place across seven counties. We will see double headers once again, this time in Germany and Latvia, whilst the championship will start in Spain and end Portugal.

RD5: 03-05 September, France
RD6: 18-19 September, Latvia

The Teams
There are four teams entered for the full championship with seven drivers. All of these teams and drivers are ones that we have seen before.
The defending champion, Johan Kristoffersson, joins the EKS team and will be in an Audi S1 alongside Enzo Ide.
The Hansen World RX Team are back run by Dad, Kenneth, with his sons, Timmy, the 2019 champion, and Kevin back in the drivers seats of the Peugeot 208.
Niclas Gronholm returns with GRX-Set World RX Team in a Hyundai i20, and is looking to clinch the driver’s title after coming close in 2019. He will be joined this year by Krisztian Szabo.
Making an impression on his debut two years ago, and his one-off appearances since then, Kevin Abbring will be contesting his first full championship as the single driver for Unkorrupted in a Renault Megane.
Other Drivers
Entered for the first round this weekend at the World RX of Catalunya are 10 other drivers. Familiar faces such as Timur Timerzyanov, Juha Rytkonen, Oliver Bennett, Timo Scheider, Tamas Karai, Rene Munnich and Patrick Guillerme will be making an appearance as well as Dan Oberg, Mandie August and Attila Mozer.
The action gets underway this Friday, 23rd July.
