It’s going to be a busy year for Rob Collard. The Team JCT600 and GardX driver will not only be competing in the British Touring Car Championship this year, but will also be paying very close attention to two junior drivers’ seasons: his sons’.
Collard got back into the BMW 125i Sport on the second day of testing at Thruxton this week.
“The testing that the team’s already done so far, with Sam [Tordoff] and with Jack [Goff], looks very promising,” he told Overtake Motorsport.
“The aim is to try and win the championship. We’re all going out. I had three race wins last year. We want to build on that. I feel we should be able to get a few more.”
It was a family event for Collard, with son Jordan testing a Ginetta in preparation for his upcoming season. Ricky Collard, who was runner up in the MSA Formula last year, will likely be leaving the BTCC family of series in favour of BRDC Formula 4, but nothing is currently set in stone.
“I very much enjoy doing everything,” Rob Collard said. “I want to race and I want to win. However, as I’m getting older there is more focus going on Ricky and Jordan, and I’m very pleased and a very proud father to see how well they’re going in their racing.”
