Last year’s British Touring Car Championship came down to the final race at Brands Hatch. A long season, full of gripping racing and one or two accusations, left five drivers in with a chance of winning the championship when they arrived at the track they had started on six months earlier. Though Jason Plato won the final race of the season, it was Honda’s Gordon Shedden who won the championship.
BTCC is one of the longest running series in existence, the first championship held in 1958. The biggest manufacturers of the motoring world have been attracted by the popularity of the action packed series, with names like BMW and Honda currently competing in the championship.
The next season starts with the launch at Donington Park, before the competitors head to Brands Hatch in April for the first race. From there, BTCC travels around the country to the most iconic circuits Great Britain has to offer, trailing with them a whole gaggle of support series, where the next generation of races are learning.
Overtake Motorsport will be keeping you up to date with all the latest action from BTCC and the championship’s support series throughout the year. Watch this space for more to come.
