Hill close to finalising seat after Motorbase miss

Ex-Team HARD driver Jake Hill had been looking to join Motorbase Performance for his second full season in the BTCC before the team switched to take on board Luke Davenport.

Hill, who is yet to finalise a deal for the 2017 season, is still hopeful for a Motorbase seat in the future.

“The original plan was to try and join Motorbase,” he told Overtake Motorsport. “But, unfortunately, they’ve taken on Luke, which is great for them. It’s not what I would have hoped for. Nevertheless, we’re looking forward to the future and, you never know, there could be a seat with them in the future.”

The 22-year-old is now in the final stages of securing a deal with an alternative team next season, following a successful 2016. Hill took 17 points finishes over the 30 rounds, ending 17th in the championship.

“I think I’m ready to get on the podium now and start making my name known, my face known, and the team more known as well,” Hill said on his aims for 2017. “That’s what I want to do. The aim is to just get more performance and do the best we can.

“The team that I’ve ended up with, I’m very happy with and we’ll build on our progress from last year.”

Hill is hoping to announce his 2017 seat by the end of the month so he can begin testing with the new team.
