Force India have become the latest team to pull the wraps off of their 2017 challenger, the VJM10 at Silverstone, the circuit located opposite Force India’s factory.

The VJM10 features a reconfigured livery with silver rather than black now the car’s predominant colour. Force India have followed in the footsteps of Renault and Sauber and added a shark fin to the rear of the car, though unlike the other teams there seems to be a lack of definition to the fin. One other area the car seems to differ from it’s competitors is the nose area. The team have opted for a step up from the main cockpit of the car to the nose assembly, reminiscent perhaps of the platypus style noses we saw in 2012.
The team are facing their first big driver line up change this year since 2014, after Nico Hulkenberg moved to Renault for this season. The team were able to retain Sergio Perez however, who scored the team two 3rd place podiums last year in Azerbaijan and Monaco. Perez will be joined by Mercedes protégé and rising young star Esteban Ocon, after the driver secured a place at the team following a solid half season at Manor.

The new season is the team’s 10th season in the sport, and having enjoyed almost year-on-year progress up the grid over the last decade, Force India finished ahead of former champions Williams and McLaren last season in 4th place in the Constructors Championship. Considered by many in the sport to be the best ‘pound-for-pound’ outfit in F1, Force India are aiming to continue their progress this year with boss Mallya targeting a top-three finish.
“We are dreaming big but we’re going to give it all we’ve got,” Mallya vowed. “All the data shows this is a cracker of a car.”
