MG Racing RCIB Insurance have a mixed weekend at Donington

MG Racing RCIB Insurance locked out the front row for the first race of the weekend, but they couldn’t find the sweet spot at Donington park, with second the best they could do.

Race One

Ashley Sutton took pole for the first race of the weekend, with team mate Cook alongside him, but they had been pushed back to second and third by the time the safety car made its way onto the track on the first lap.

By lap four, the pair had swapped places, with Sutton slipping backwards to P5 by the end of the fifteenth lap.

The standings hadn’t changed before the red flag that ended the race came out.

Race Two

The MG Racing boys struggled at the start of the second race, with Cook dropping down to fourth and Sutton to sixth. By the time the second safety car of the race was out on track, Cook had lost another place.

Sutton slipped even further back.

The rookie finished thirteenth, team mate Cook in seventh. The poor finish did put Cook in a good position for race three.

Race Three

It was a chance for the young drivers to show what they could do, with Sutton making up place after place throughout the race.

The rookie finished fifth, with Cook behind him in ninth.

The MG Racing RCIB Insurance duo leave Donington eighth and ninth in the championship. Ashley Sutton leads the Jack Sears Trophy standings by twenty eight points and the MG team are a comfortable fourth in the teams’ championship.
