Campos Racing driver Lorenzo Colombo scored his first point and his maiden win in the first race of the Hungarian Grand-Prix.
The Italian started the race from pole position, but as soon as the lights went out, Jonny Edgar managed to take the race lead until the next eight laps from the race as Edgar was forced to retire from the race. He appeared to have a problem with the car and pulled it to the side of the track, bringing the yellow flag into the race.
Colombo wins out the battle between Jonny Edgar as the two drivers are looking forward to scoring their first win. He dedicated the win to the late owner of the team, Adrian Campos, who sadly passed away in January at the age of 60.
Ayumu Iwasa claimed his maiden F3 podium with Hitech after stressing the PREMA Racing driver, Olli Caldwell, to stay behind him in the third position.
Caldwell got promoted to be second in the championship standing, just 40 points behind the championship leader Dennis Hauger after Frederik Vesti’s car lost its power and forced him to step out of Race 1.
Logan Sargeant made it to fourth fastest for the third time finishing in the same position for Charouz Racing ahead of Trident’s Clement Novalak in fifth.
Championship leader Dennis Hauger delivered a good performance in gaining five positions from P11 as he ended the race in sixth for PREMA Racing.
The Norwegian driver started his move on Jack Doohan and Frederik Vesti to claim P9. He got promoted to P8 after Jonny Edgar retired from the race and the 21-year-old driver quickly passed David Schumacher to finish in sixth fastest.
ART’s Alexander Smolyar finished the race in seventh ahead of the two Trident drivers, Alexander Smolyar and David Schumacher, in eighth and ninth fastest, individually.
HWA Racelab’s Matteo Nannini rounded out the top 10 from Race 1 as the last driver who earned points from the opening race in Hungaroring.
With the reverse grid being applied to the next race this afternoon, Enzo Fittipaldi will be starting the race from pole position ahead of Hitech’s Roman Stanek and Trident’s Jack Doohan.
The next action from the FIA Formula 3 will emerge at 05.55 PM local time in Hungary.
