BTCC: Ingram holds off Cammish for second win of the day

Tom Ingram took his second victory off the day at Thruxton, holding off Dan Cammish who once again started poorly.

Ingram shot into the lead building a gap of over a second to Matt Neal who jumped Dynamics team mate Cammish at the start.

Cammish appeared to almost stall from second on the grid and immediately lost out to Neal and did well to keep the fast-starting Infiniti of Ash Sutton and the Mercedes of Adam Morgan behind during the first lap.

Once Cammish had found his rhythm he made light work of Neal, passing him into Allard at the start of lap 2.

Despite being over a second behind Ingram, Cammish immediately slashed the gap, putting himself just half-a-second behind the Toyota driver.

But from there Cammish still couldn’t find a way past eventually finishing just 0.291s behind.

Neal held off Sutton throughout the race to take his second podium of the day but Sutton couldn’t keep the pressure up eventually dropping off and coming home fourth.

Morgan held fifth for most of the race, until he retried due to a mechanical issue.

Morgan’s retirement meant that Motorbase driver Rory Butcher finished fifth, again just ahead of Team BMW’s Tom Oliphant.

Tom Chilton led home a train of BTC Racing Honda Civic’s in seventh ahead of Josh Cook in eighth and Michael Crees in ninth.

Senna Proctor completed the top 10 in the Excelr8 run Hyundai i30.

Despite starting 22nd Jake Hill came through the field to finish 11th just ahead of Rob Austin in 12th.

Reigning champion Colin Turkington finished 13th after retiring from race 1.

Ollie Jackson again finished in the points in 14th with Jack Goff rounding out the points scorers in 15th.

Cook will start the reverse grid race on pole later today.
