Making NASCAR Great Again
Perhaps the biggest change NASCAR has made since 2020 is cutting ties with its roots. The bad and outdated bits of their roots that is. Confederate flags are gone forever, so is the controversial presence of the National Rifle Association sponsoring cars and events. President Trump is also gone to never return.
The latter is especially important as the former Commander in Chief was a big part of everything that went wrong with the sport last season. Things didn’t kick off the right foot when he served as Grand Marshall for the Daytona 500 setting a record for the slowest lap at the World Center of Racing. Later in the year, he called out Wallace claiming the noose incident “A hoax”. Fortunately for NASCAR, they won’t have to put up with his nonsense anymore.
Why is this Season Such a Big Deal?
Regardless of what happens on the track, this season is incredibly important for the sport. 2021 represents a huge leap for NASCAR as a whole. The new tracks bring diversity and modernity having a little bit of everything for every type of fan. Moreover, this will bring some much-needed respect from outside the U.S. For years, it has been overlooked by many, partially due to its ways of carrying itself off the track. Getting rid of their old-fashioned, restrictive antics will help NASCAR set itself as the top racing series it truly is.
