Colin Turkington took his 13th victory at the Croft Circuit in fantastic style by beating Gordon Shedden by over 3 seconds.
Turkington led from pole and kept Shedden behind with Ash Sutton and Tom Ingram following close behind.
Whilst it was all clean at the front, things got a bit too close in the middle of the pack with Jack Goff, Dan Lloyd and Jade Edwards all making contact through Clervaux bringing out the Safety Car.
The lap count went up 1 lap to make it a 16 lap race.
Turkington restarted well, opening up a decent gap to Shedden, Sutton and Ingram.
Jason Plato then spun at Sunny In, but was able to carry on without the need for a Safety Car.
Then, during a bizarre incident at the Complex, Jake Hill and Adam Morgan made contact sending the BMW into and spin and almost instantly Dan Rowbottom and Stephen Jelley made contact sending the latter into a spin.
Both drivers were able to carry on.
Sutton then closed up to the back of Shedden putting consistent pressure on the Honda driver.
Sutton then spend the rest of the race on the tail of Shedden but to no avail.
Turkington came through to win by 3.5s from Shedden and Sutton.
Ingram finished fourth ahead of Josh Cook and Aiden Moffat.
Race 2 winner, Jake Hill, finished seventh with Senna Proctor, Dan Rowbottom and Tom Chilton completing the top 10.
