The 2021 NASCAR Cup Series Season is upon us.
Offseason is no more; the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season is upon us. Overtake Motorsport will bring you all the action of the world’s top stock car racing series. Drivers were on the move; dirt will be dumped in places it had never been before and the sport will turn right more times than ever in what will be a historic season for Cup cars. Here are a few things to keep an eye on ahead of the Super Bowl of speed: the Daytona 500.
On the Move
It is common for athletes to look for greener pastures during the offseason, stock car racing is of course, no different from other sports. NASCAR’s silly season played more like a game of Scrabble than anything else. Pieces were shoved everywhere and fitted into all sorts of different places. Here are some of the most notable moves:
- Alex Bowman will swap Hendrick Motorsports’ cars going from the #88 to the #48 to fill in for the now Indycar rookie Jimmie Johnson.
- Kyle Larson is back after his iRacing incident. The California native will debut a brand-new number 5 car for Rick Hendrick this season.
- Erik Jones will climb onto Richard Petty Motorsports’ #43 Camaro after Bubba Wallace’s departure in the winter. Jones is set to be replaced by former Truck Series champion Christopher Bell over at JGR.
- Lone international driver Daniel Suarez landed a full-time gig. The 2016 Xfinity Series champion will race for rookie team Trackhouse Racing.
Among the changes, there’s also a disappearance as Dale Jr’s iconic #88 has been officially retired.
